Professional membership renews automatically each year on the anniversary of the day you joined. You will get a reminder before the charge and a receipt after it.
What a lapse actually costs you
If a renewal fails or you cancel, your account drops to the Free tier rather than disappearing. That means:
- You keep your account, your course progress, and your post history.
- You keep every credential you have earned. A CDVS, CEVS, or CTTS is yours. It is not revoked because a membership lapsed, and it stays checkable at agcv.com/verify.
- You keep certificate downloads. Your certificates stay available at agcv.com/members/credentials whether or not membership is active.
- You lose the membership card, which states current membership and so requires an active one.
- You lose the private member spaces, your featured directory listing, the member-only calculators, and exam discounts. The Legal Video Forum stays open to you, since it is open to anyone signed in.
Why the credential survives but the card does not
A credential is a statement about what you demonstrated on a date. That does not stop being true when a subscription ends. A membership card is a statement that you are a member right now, so it has to expire with the membership. Both statements are accurate, and keeping them separate is deliberate.
Restarting after a lapse
Go to the Professional checkout and sign in with the same email you used before. Everything reattaches to your existing record. Do not create a new account with a different address, because that splits your history and your credentials from your new membership.
Firm members
If your firm holds the membership and stops renewing, your individual employee accounts drop to Free the same way. Your credentials are unaffected. If you were previously covered under a Firm Membership, you can convert to an individual Professional membership at $99 a year.
