AGCV Member's Code of Ethics
The professional standards every AGCV member affirms — twelve articles covering duty of service, impartiality, confidentiality, archival, and the conduct expected of every legal video professional.
Article I — Duty of Service
Members shall deliver competent, professional services in a timely fashion that meets industry quality standards. No service should be accepted until full proficiency has been established.
Article II — Be Truthful
Members shall not produce, edit, or distribute materials they believe are false, deceptive, or fraudulent.
Article III — Understanding Rules and Regulations
Members shall maintain current knowledge of applicable laws, rules of civil procedure, and rules of evidence across the jurisdictions in which they practice.
Article IV — Conflict of Interest
Members shall avoid conflicting engagements and shall immediately notify the requesting party if a conflict arises.
Article V — Proper Professional Representation
Members shall conduct themselves professionally at all times and shall not misrepresent the certifications they hold or the scope of those certifications.
Article VI — Impartial Witness
Members shall act as neutral third parties. Members shall accept only the agreed-upon fees for services rendered and shall not provide unauthorized services.
Article VII — Release of Information and Confidentiality
Members shall protect the privacy of all parties and shall not divulge information acquired in the course of their work without client consent or a court order.
Article VIII — Redundant Archival
Members shall maintain indefinite file records and shall provide backup copies of all commissioned materials.
Article IX — Provide Appropriate Paperwork
Members shall supply certificates of authenticity and maintain the documentation required by applicable laws and the rules governing the proceeding.
Article X — Do Not Willfully Create Bias
Members shall record proceedings without deliberately introducing bias through technique, framing, or selection.
Article XI — Accepting and Presenting Gifts
Members shall not exchange gifts, entertainment, or favors in connection with services rendered.
Article XII — Use of AGCV Materials
Members shall not use AGCV organizational materials, marks, or credentials for personal or political purposes.
Compliance and Reporting
Members shall promptly report suspected non-compliance with this Code to the AGCV. Violations are reviewed under the published grievance procedure; sanctions range from written notice to credential revocation.
